Currently first timpanist with La Fenice Orchestra in Venice, Dimitri is an honor graduate from Udine Conservatory and has been percussion faculty in several iItalian conservatories. Between 1994 and 2000 Dimitri has achieved first place at the auditions for Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Arena di Verona, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Orchestra Sinfonica Regionale del Lazio, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia. He was selected for the prestigious Orchestra Giovanile Italiana (OGI) with which he toured extensively throughout the world under the baton of internationally renowned conductors, and in 1994 he was the only Italian musician selected for the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival. Dimitri has played as first timpanist and/or percussionist with the La Scala Orchestra in Milan, the San Carlo Theatre Orchestra in Naples, the Opera Theatre Orchestra in Rome, Haydn Orchestra in Bolzan, Filarmonia Veneta in Treviso, Chamber Orchestra in Padua, Chamber Orchestra in Mantua and Akademia Ars Miicae in Klagenfurt. He has collaborated with the Arena di Verona, the (Italian State Television) Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI (in both Turin and Milan), the Orchestra Sinfonica di San Remo and the Orchestra Regionale del Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Among others, Dimitri has played under the baton of conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Carlo Maria Giulini, Valery Gergiev, Salvatore Accardo, Chung Myung-whun, Eliau Inbal, and has toured throughout Europe with the ensemble guided by Maurizio Dini Ciacci performing works by Mauricio Kagel, Luciano Berio and other contemporary composers.
