Valentina was born in Lucca, Italy. She graduated with Honors from the “Istituto Musicale L. Boccherini” in Lucca in 2014. Valentina then gained her Master of Performance (Honors) at the Royal College of Music in 2016, and continued further studies under the guidance of Leon Bosch an Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she was awarded a scholarships from Trinity College London and the Leverhulme Trust, and the Trinity Laban’s Carne Trust Junior Fellowship. Valentina focused also on composition, graduating with honors in 2014. Currently, Valentina lives in London and is a faculty member with Leon’s Bosch class at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and young artist of Talent Unlimited. Valentina was awarded a scholarship from the Animando Association in Italy for researching the music of Giacomo Puccini’s ancestors, and her work has been published by the Japanese Press Da Vinci. Valentina has debuted her first solo album, Music from the Sphinx, in 2019 with a brand new repertoire, most of it developed during the year with the Trinity Laban Junior Fellowship. Valentina’s work is focused on expanding solo repertoire for double bass, composing new virtuoso pieces, transcribing part of Frank Zappa’s Repertoire, and debuting composition written for her by many contemporary composers. Valentina also has wide Jazz experience and has played in important Jazz Festival such as Dusseldorf Jazz Marathon, Villa Celimontana Jazz Festival, Tuscia Jazz, Umbria Jazz Clinics, etc. She participated to final selections in competition such as Best Double Bass at Tuscia Jazz, Electric Bass and the Nicola Tiberio Award. She plays a 2014 Scipioni Bass made in Mantua.
