MUSIC ACADEMY INTERNATIONAL

Why should I choose the Trentino Music Festival?

Music Academy International has a stellar reputation and our festivals have been innovators in Young Artist Programs throughout the world for the past 25 years. MAI was the first YAP to produce fully staged operas with orchestra, we were the first to provide fully integrated career management services, and MAI is the only YAP in Europe that provides studios in Collaborative Piano, Dance, Musical Theatre, Opera, Orchestra, & Technical Theatre in one all encompassing platform, the Trentino Music Festival, in beautiful Italy.

What age are the young artists?

The festival attracts young artists from around the world who want to pursue a career in the performing arts. Artists range in age from high school seniors to post grads and young professionals.  Age is not a determining factor in our acceptances.

How do I apply to be a young artist at the Trentino Music Festival & how do I pay the audition fee?

Each Studio page will detail application requirements via the ‘Apply Now!’ button, where you can also upload resumes and videos as necessary. You can then pay the audition fee and any further instalments via the the Payments page.

When do I find out if I have been accepted?

Firstly, you will receive an automatic email to acknowledge receipt of your application (please check your junk folder if it doesn’t immediately go to your inbox). You will then receive an email confirming the outcome, once we have considered your resume & auditions videos accordingly. This usually takes 5 – 7 days to receive a reply.

Is my tuition refundable should I decide not to attend?

No, tuition is not refundable for any reason. It is for this reason that we strongly suggest that you take out a “Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR)” insurance policy. These policies will also cover any travel related expenses that you have incurred. They come in varying forms so we highly suggest that you research and take out the policy that is best suited to your individual needs.

As a young artist how might I fundraise for my tuition fees?

Many of our young artists are very successful in fundraising for their stay in Italy and there are various ways you may consider fundraising for your trip. These range from creating a “GoFundMe” campaign, organising a recital in your local area or asking family & friends to make a tax deductible donation to ‘Music Academy International’ in their name, which we can then designate as a donation towards your fees. Many schools offer travel grants to their students through the international office.  Scholarships from local organizations such as the Rotary club, and other civic organizations often provide assistance. Please see the Payments page for a PDF download detailing further fundraising tips.

How do I travel to the Festival?

Air travel is to Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) & a shuttle bus will be available to book (details will be in the welcome package once accepted onto the program).

What are the accommodations like at the festival?

We have a variety of hotels and apartments that we use for accommodations. Apartments are fully furnished with bedding and have kitchens for your use. Hotel stays provide breakfast but do not have kitchen facilities.  Most restaurants and shops provide festival participants with discounts and food is very reasonably priced. Unlike festivals in large cities, you do not need a lot of spending money.

Is the festival a good place to invite my friends and family?

We highly recommend that young artists invite friends and family members to visit and attend performances.  The Trentino region is an excellent location to explore nature, amazing food & wine, and to base oneself for weekend or day trips to Venice, Verona, and other historical cities.
