Stacy Alley is a professional director and choreographer who also serves as Professor and Head of Musical Theatre at The University of Alabama, where she has been on faculty for fifteen years. Her teaching and artistic credits span Germany, Austria, Tanzania, Norway, Scotland, Chile, and regional theaters throughout the United States, most recently directing South Pacific in Concert with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. She has performed professionally for forty years, including five years as a featured performer in Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular. Stacy is a former President of the Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance, a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and co-founder of the Musical Theatre Committee for the Southeastern Theatre Conference. She holds an MFA in Acting from The University of Alabama, a BA in Theatre from the University of Southern California and is a Certified Movement Analyst through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York City. She is the recipient of the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award from UA’s National Alumni Association and the President’s Faculty Research Award through The Office for Research & Economic Development. She was recently selected by a Peer Review Panel for placement on the Fulbright Specialist Roster on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and World Learning.
