Collaborative Piano Studio

The Trentino Music Festival offers a select number of collaborative pianists the opportunity to train and perform in a professional festival atmosphere. As a collaborative pianist, you will have ample performance opportunities and exceptional training with leading international faculty members from the Metropolitan Opera, English National Opera, Mannes School of Music, Jacobs School of Music, Dutch National Opera Academy, and other leading opera opera houses and music conservatories.
Training and performance opportunities include:
Two private lessons during each week of the festival.
Accompanying for Master Classes, and voice lessons.
Diction lessons in German & Italian.
Rehearsal pianist for one or two opera productions.
Performances in Opera Galas, Concerts & Staged Performances.
Vocal coaching and score preparation:
Approaching Recitatives.
Step by step preparation of an opera score.
Working with ensembles and conductors.
The Pianist in the Rehearsal Room.

AUDITIONS:
Applicants should submit an unlocked video with three selections accompanying a singer.
* One selection by Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, or Strauss.
* One selection by Poulenc, Debussy, or Ravel.
* One recitative & aria by Mozart.

British vocal coach Paul Plummer is the Studienleiter at the Staatstheater in Oldenburg, where he also is the head vocal coach of the newly formed Opera Studio.

J. David Jackson
Music Director
J. David Jackson gained critical acclaim leading the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in performances of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice staring Anthony Roth Costanzo. He returns to the Met this season for Die Zauberflöte.

Jane Robinson is Head of Vocal Coaching and Development for the Harewood Artists at English National Opera, London.

Robert Meffe, Head of the SDSU MFA Musical Theatre Program, spent twenty-two years in New York City as a professional conductor, music director, keyboardist, orchestrator, arranger and music copyist.
